Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in General Adult Mental Health, Adult ADHD and Addiction Psychiatry, with over 20 years of experience working within Adult Mental Health Services in the NHS, UK.

I qualified as a medical doctor in 1999 from University College London and obtained membership to the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2006. I hold a CCT in General Adult Psychiatry with a subspecialty endorsement in Addiction Psychiatry. I am an Approved Clinician and Section 12(2) Approved under The Mental Health Act. Adult ADHD is my full time work, and I have extensive experience of working with adults who have ADHD and those with complex comorbidities. I setup an ADHD Clinic in Newham in 2013, where previously this service did not exist. This was at a time when ADHD was less well recognised in the adult population, and many mental health patients were undiagnosed and untreated.

I am also interested in the links between ADHD, substance use and addiction, and I have worked in the CNWL Club Drug Clinic, (Central London), working with clients addicted to cocaine, ketamine, methamphetamine. I also held a substantive post at a community Drug & Alcohol service in CNWL, (West London) that stabilises patients addicted to heroin, alcohol, crack, prescription medicines and cannabis. ADHD was common amongst both these groups.

Within general adult mental health services, I have held many substantive posts, both within the inpatient and the community/assertive outreach setting treating, treating severe mental illness including Schizophrenia & psychosis, Bipolar Disorder & Depression, Self-Harm and Suicidal behaviours, PTSD, OCD, and drug induced psychosis. This included 2 years working in 2 separate Early Intervention in Psychosis Services for younger adults (18 – 35), who were experiencing a first episode of psychosis.

I hold an Honorary Research Fellowship with Imperial College London and am an associate of the CIPPRES Clinic, whose focus is on Brain Science research & neuro-imaging. I am a co-author on a current study investigating brain function in Gambling Disorder. My areas of clinical interest include novel psychiatric treatments such as psychedelics and cannabis, the treatment of addiction disorders, and the treatment of ADHD, and the neurodevelopmental disorders.
