Consultant Psychiatrist in Adult and Old Age Mental Health.

Dr Zacharia (MUDr. MRCPsych PGCert MAcadMEd FHEA) is dual accredited with specialist registrations in General Adult and Old Age Psychiatry. He also holds a Royal College of Psychiatrists endorsement in the sub specialism of Liaison Psychiatry (mind and body interface).

He completed his mental health specialist training at the Maudsley Training Programme in South London. When not working at Psychiatry-UK, he is also a permanently employed NHS consultant at an older adults dementia specialist mental health ward in South London.

He has developed further interests in the areas of clinical education and digital psychiatry. Dr Zacharia holds a postgraduate certificate in Clinical Education from King’s College London, where he is also an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer. He is involved in numerous educational endeavours at undergraduate and postgraduate teaching levels. His interests in digital psychiatry include the advocacy and application of innovate new technologies within mental health to improve both staff and patient experiences and he has published in the areas of mental health, digital and education.

His experience in training and working within diverse urban populations has led to a unique ability to work with patients and families from many cultures, understanding varying stigma and interpretations of mental illness.

Dr Zacharia has experience delivering a number of therapies including long, as well as short term psychological interventions such as CBT for insomnia. He incorporates a holistic stance into his management, discussing appropriate use of psychological and social interventions, as well as medications.

In his spare time he enjoys technology, photography and videography. These interests have allowed him to engage in other areas of mental health support and advocacy such as filming expert interviews and educational training video as well as volunteering at mental health booths during videogaming conventions.

Dr Zacharia has experience in managing a spectrum of adult and old age mental disorders. These include, but are not limited to, mood disorders, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, unusual experiences, psychosis, personality disorders, memory and thinking disorders including dementia, and physical health related mental disorders such as stroke, brain injury or medically unexplained symptoms.
