Consultant Psychiatrist in General adult Psychiatry.
Dr Maheshi competed her medical degree and started working as a doctor in 2002. She started her psychiatry training in 2005 with the now Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, moving to East of England, Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust in 2011 to complete her higher psychiatry training in General Adult Psychiatry. She became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrist, MRCPych, in 2010 and achieved Certificate of training in General adult psychiatry on the GMC specialist register in 2014. She was approved by the Secretary of state as a Section 12 approved doctor in 2011 and achieved Responsible clinician status in 2013. She completed an MSc in Psychiatric research in 2017 at University of Hertfordshire.
Dr Maheshi has 15 years’ experience working in psychiatry in the NHS and now works for Cygnet Hospitals in psychiatric intensive care and secure services. The majority of her experience is in working with adults with severe mental illness in the in-patients services over the last 8 years. She also has experience in working at the National OCD service, Sussex ADHD service, Hertfordshire community eating disorders service & substance misuse disorders service.
Dr Maheshi researched and published on the subject of ASD in the OCD population during her time working at the national OCD service. She trained in diagnosing ASD spectrum disorders at the Cambridge CLASS clinic. Dr Maheshi developed a specialist interest in ECT and was the lead ECT clinician for North ECT services while she was with Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust.

Dr Maheshi values service user driven recovery and open and honest dialogue. She believes each individual is unique; so works in collaboration with her patients and their families when formulating, diagnosis and making treatment plans. Therefore, every treatment plan is tailor-made to suit individual requirements by taking into account a holistic view of their problems.
