Dr Mohammad Arbabi is a highly experienced Consultant Psychiatrist with nearly two decades of clinical, academic, and leadership expertise. He specialises in Neuropsychiatry and Adult Neurodevelopmental Disorders, with particular focus on ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and complex functional neurological presentations.
He completed his specialist training in Psychiatry in 2004 and has since held senior clinical and academic positions across inpatient, outpatient, and consultation‑liaison services. Dr Arbabi previously served as Professor of Neuropsychiatry at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, where he led multidisciplinary teams, supervised postgraduate trainees, and advanced research in neurodevelopmental disorders. His international contributions include membership of the World Psychiatric Association’s Psycho‑neurobiology Committee, with a dedicated interest in ADHD.
Dr Arbabi established and led a specialist Neuropsychiatry and Functional Neurological Disorders service, supporting patients with complex presentations often involving co‑occurring ADHD and ASD. His approach integrates structured assessment, diagnostic precision, and evidence‑based, person‑centred interventions.
He currently practises within an NHS Trust in London and with Psychiatry UK, providing expert assessment and treatment for adults with neuropsychiatric and neurodevelopmental conditions. Actively engaged in research, Dr Arbabi has authored more than 70 peer‑reviewed publications in international journals, contributing to improved diagnostic clarity and treatment outcomes in his field.
Alongside his clinical work, he is committed to teaching and mentoring psychiatrists and trainees, promoting high‑quality, confident, and compassionate care. Dr Arbabi brings a thoughtful, holistic, and research‑informed perspective to every patient he supports.
