I have worked in multiple settings and sectors of psychiatric practice and consider myself a true generalist.

I love psychiatry and consider myself privileged to do my job. I have worked in the NHS, the private and third sector, as well as in academia, inpatient, outpatient, detoxification and rehabilitation settings.

Particular areas of interest are:

    • Stress
    • Depression
    • Anxiety
    • Burnout
    • Psychosis and unusual experience
    • Bipolar affective disorder
    • Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
    • Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
    • Relationship of trauma with current mental health symptoms

I have a particular interest in the link between drug and alcohol use and current mental health symptoms.

I have always received very good patient, carer and colleague feedback and believe in putting the patient at the heart of care.

I am on the Executive of the Academic Faculty for the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the Deputy Lead for Critical Appraisal for the Royal College Exams.

I host an annual symposium on the Neurobiology of Pscychosis and Schizophrenia involving world leading thinkers and scientists on this enigmatic question.
