The most commonly known are Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa.

Anorexia Nervosa

Some common signs and symptoms:

  • Worrying about weight
  • Eating less
  • Increasing exercising
  • Using laxatives or other tablets to help you lose weight
  • Smoking to keep weight down
  • Losing interest in sex

Bulimia Nervosa

Some common signs and symptoms:

  • Binge eating
  • Worrying about weight
  • Make oneself vomit
  • Use of laxatives
  • Irregular periods in women

Our psychiatrists will discuss with you when the problem started and how it developed. Medication is not usually prescribed for anorexia alone, but it may be given for other symptoms, such as obsessive compulsive disorder and depression.
