Dr Balu Pitchiah is an award-winning Psychiatrist licensed to practice in the UK, UAE, and India. He was voted Doctor of the Year 2018 by the readers of Asian Voice in the United Kingdom and is widely recognised for his holistic approach to mental, emotional, and behavioural health. His work focuses on reducing the impact of common mental health problems on individual functioning, enabling clients to achieve their full potential.
Dr Balu trained extensively within the NHS, completing his psychiatric training in Sheffield and Hertfordshire, before serving as a Consultant Psychiatrist in Kensington and Chelsea, London. This foundation gave him deep experience across diverse patient populations and complex service delivery within one of the world’s most respected healthcare systems.
With a strong interest in organisational behaviour and the role of emotions in decision-making and executive function deficits, Dr Balu bridges clinical expertise with leadership insight. He has assessed and advised more than 25,000 patients with neurodiversity, including ADHD and Autism, with a particular focus on high-functioning autism, ADHD, and neurodivergent women in the perimenopausal stage.
His other interests include the use of technology to improve access to healthcare, integrated physical and mental health care, and the promotion of health and wellness. He established one of the world’s first Emotional Wellness Clinics regulated by a Health Authority, located within a luxury five-star wellness resort,an innovative model that combines hospitality and healthcare in a holistic healing environment.
Dr Balu is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK) and the American Psychiatric Association (USA). He also holds an MBA from the University of Oxford, reflecting his commitment to combining clinical excellence with strategic leadership in healthcare innovation.
