Hello, my name is Tom Grew and I would like to help you gain a better understanding of your mental health, collaborating, and finding treatment options that will help you to thrive. I offer assessments for conditions that range across the whole psychiatric spectrum.
I currently work as a Consultant Psychiatrist in NHS roles within the prison system. I also undertake Mental Health Act assessments in an independent capacity. I am a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act as
having special experience in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorder. During my training I worked with adults in both community and inpatient settings, as well older adults, children and adolescents, and with patients in general hospitals. I later sub-specialised in
forensic psychiatry, where patients sit at the interface with the criminal justice system. Due to the risk posed to others I have learnt how to treat patients comprehensively.
Prior to studying medicine, I completed a degree in History. As an 18-year-old I was diagnosed with cancer, later going on to represent teenage and young adult cancer patients on a local, national, and international, basis. This experience inspired me to become a doctor, holding a
great appreciation of the link between body and mind.
