Dr Aidan Carney is a Consultant Psychiatrist with almost 20 years of experience across a broad range of psychiatric specialties. He provides expert psychiatric assessment and treatment for adults, with particular expertise in ADHD, depression, anxiety disorders, addiction, personality disorders, psychosis, post-traumatic stress disorder, and autism spectrum disorder. He also prepares expert witness reports for the criminal justice system.

Originally from Dublin, Ireland, Dr Carney graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) from the University of Exeter. He subsequently gained Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych), a Diploma in Psychiatry from the University of Manchester, and completed additional specialist training in Mentalisation-Based Therapy and ADHD treatment. He is awarded a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) and Approved Clinician (AC) status with the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and also holds an endorsement in Substance Misuse.

Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Carney has a strong interest in research into therapeutic approaches for personality disorders. His practice is informed not only by extensive clinical expertise, but also by a lived experience of neurodivergence, having been diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia in 2007 during medical school and later with dyspraxia in 2022.

Outside medicine, Dr Carney has a longstanding passion for endurance training, weight training, CrossFit and cycling.
