Dr Sofia Efstratiou qualified in general adult psychiatry in 2005 in Greece where she completed her Master’s degree in principles and applications of social psychiatry and her PhD on trauma. She worked in the NHS in general community mental health teams, inpatients, and early intervention in psychosis services and completed a postgraduate certificate on healthcare leadership from the Open University and the NHS leadership academy.

During COVID-19 pandemic she went on to work for the HSE in Ireland in community mental health teams and inpatients and she was involved in the review of operational policies including ADHD services. She was a trainer recognised by the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland and an examiner for core trainees in psychiatry.

She is currently working as a consultant psychiatrist in the NHS in an early intervention in psychosis service. She is an approved clinician for the Mental health Act, a member of special interest groups both at the Royal college of psychiatrists and at the College of psychiatrists of Ireland, including ADHD special interest group. She is a trainer recognised by the GMC and has a special interest in first episode of psychosis, PTSD and ADHD.

In her free time she enjoys embroidery, cooking and walking by the beach.
