In partnership with Bupa

Psychiatry UK is recognised by Bupa, one of the UK’s leading private health insurers. If you hold a Bupa health insurance policy, you may be able to access a private mental health psychiatric assessment and ongoing care through your cover – with no need to pay out of pocket, subject to your policy terms.

This partnership covers both adults and children and young people (CYP), across initial psychiatric assessment and follow-up appointments.

An in-depth assessment with a Consultant Psychiatrist to understand your mental health history, current presentation and clinical needs, followed by a tailored care plan.

PUK-Bupa-CYP

Initial psychiatric assessment – Children & Young People (CYP)

Specialist psychiatric assessment for children and young people, carried out sensitively with involvement from parents or carers where appropriate.

PUK-Bupa-FollowUp

Follow-up appointments

Structured follow-up care to review your progress, adjust your care plan, and manage any medication where clinically appropriate – for both adults and CYP patients.

PUK-Bupa-Online

Fully remote – via secure video

All appointments take place online via Microsoft Teams, through our secure patient portal. Accessible from home, work, or wherever suits you.

Bupa health insurance covers the cost of your psychiatric appointments, but does not extend to prescriptions or medication.
Where medication is clinically recommended, Psychiatry UK can issue prescriptions as part of a self-pay service – however, the cost of the prescription and any medication is always the responsibility of the patient.

IS RIGHT FOR ME?

What to check before you book

Before registering with us, there are a few things worth confirming with Bupa:

  • Does your policy cover mental health services? Not all Bupa policies include mental health cover – check your policy documents or call Bupa directly.
  • Has your claim been pre-authorised? Bupa typically requires a pre-authorisation code before assessment begins. Contact Bupa to start this process.
  • Is Psychiatry UK listed on your policy? We are a Bupa-recognised provider, but confirm this applies under your specific policy type.

Once you have authorisation from Bupa, complete our registration form and our dedicated Private Services team will take it from there.

No – Bupa health insurance covers your psychiatric appointments only. It does not cover the cost of prescriptions or medication. If medication is recommended as part of your care plan, Psychiatry UK can issue prescriptions through our self-pay service, but the cost of both the prescription and the medication itself will always be the patient’s responsibility. If you have any questions about this, our Private Services team will be happy to talk you through it when they make contact.

You can contact Bupa via their website: Private healthcare | Bupa UK or by calling the number on the back of your membership card.
