Dr Saleema Durgahee is a Consultant Adult Psychiatrist specialising in Perinatal Mental Health and Liaison Psychiatry. In her current NHS role as Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist in Sussex, she provides balanced advice, working collaboratively to offer therapeutic treatment options to people planning a pregnancy, currently pregnant or in the first year postnatally with existing or new mental illness. Dr. Durgahee has experience working with women living with neurodiversity, including ADHD and autism in the context of perinatal mental health disorders and Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD). She has completed the UKAAN ADHD diagnosing and prescribing course. Having worked in a variety of inpatient and community settings, Dr. Durgahee has expertise in the diagnosis and management of ADHD and Autism in adults, Psychosis, Mood and Anxiety Disorders, and Trauma Disorders including Complex PTSD and Personality Disorders. Dr. Durgahee graduated from Guy’s, King’s and St. Thomas’ Medical Schools, London in 2006, and has worked in psychiatry since 2009, completing specialist training in Sussex. She is approved under s12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983 as having special expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders, with Approved Clinician status. Dr. Durgahee holds a MSc in Psychiatry from Brighton and Sussex Medical School, and is a recognised Educational Supervisor for training psychiatrists by the GMC. She is a training executive coach and a reflective practice educator for healthcare professionals. Dr. Durgahee is an elected member of Royal College of Psychiatrists Perinatal Mental Health Faculty, and plays an active role in various leadership and equality initiatives. Dr. Durgahee also served as Trustee, for Oasis Project, Brighton, supporting women living with drug and alcohol issues from 2020 to 2025.
