Dr Sher Ahmed, MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery), qualified in 1998. He had master’s degree in Neurotransmitters from University College Dublin, in 2005/2006, He had his MRCPsych, (member of Royal College of Psychiatrists), in 2014. Dr Ahmed completed CCT (higher training) in Northwest of UK, with endorsement year in addiction psychiatry (subspeciality).
He also holds diploma in clinical psychiatry from Royal college of surgeons and Physicians.
Dr Ahmed is section 12 approved and hold Approved Clinician (AC) status under Mental Health Act 1983, amended in 2007.
He is working in psychiatry since 2007, in last 16 years he worked in different roles, initially in Republic of Ireland and for the last 10 years in United Kingdom.
Dr Ahmed is a Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in Adult Mental Health, Addiction psychiatry and Adult ADHD.
Dr Ahmed has over 16 years of experience working within Adult Mental Health Services in the NHS, UK and Health Services Executive, in Republic of Ireland.
Dr Ahmed is particularly interested in the links between ADHD and addiction, as many people with ADHD have comorbid substance misuse and addiction.
Dr Ahmed has worked in one of the tertiary NHS substance misuse departments in the Northwest region of England. He has a wide range of experience in treating substance misuse disorders and substitute prescribing for abstinence of drugs and alcohol.

Dr Ahmed is a trainer of junior doctors recognised by the General Medical council.
He is involved in teaching of medical students attached to psychiatry (on rotation).
He also participated in classroom teaching of first- and second-year medical students at University College Dublin.
Dr Ahmed currently works as a Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry in Northwest of England.
He has substantial experience in the assessment and treatment of people with a range of mental disorders.

He works in collaboration with patients and their families when formulating diagnosis and management plans.
Dr Ahmed takes a holistic approach in the management of his patients.
