Qualifications: RMN.
My clinical career started with a dual qualification of RNN and RGN whilst in London, which led me to many experiences via the Maudsley hospital, Ingrebourn psychotherapy centre and various alternative adventures. I was drawn back into the NHS to help set up and work within an adult substance misuse service in Bradford/Airedale, which drew me to a similar adventure in 1998 within the local Bradford/Airedale CAMHS.
This post as a clinical nurse specialist naturally evolved, and when I acquired the Independent andSupplementary prescribing qualification (March 2008) it enabled me to develop the service further in a more dynamic way. However by Nov 2019my interest in the CAMHS neurodevelopment service drew me into working with the ADHD prescribing team which has been a fantastic experience. We were responsible for engaging, initiating, titrating and stabilising medication regimes for many struggling young people and their families.
I have enjoyed all these clinical experiences greatly and having a family, dogs and great camper-van adventures, these all go into enhancing my quality of life. I can now look forward to good things with Psychiatry UK as a nurse prescriber within the Titration Team.
