Frequently Asked Questions

If you have been referred to our service by your GP, it can take up to 8 weeks to process your referral. Once accepted, we will contact you via SMS and/or email with instructions to help you set up an account on our MedQare portal.

When you are logged in, you will find a welcome note letting you know what will happen next.

If you have not heard from us within 8 weeks, please ask your GP surgery:

  • The date your GP sent your referral.
  • Whether your referral has been returned to your surgery as incomplete, or has not been accepted.
  • If your referral has not been returned to your GP and you have not heard from us after 4 weeks, please contact us using our Live Chat service (our opening hours are: Mon-Fri: 8am-6pm).

Private (self-pay) Adult Autism Assessment: We aim to provide appointments within 2 weeks of completing pre-assessment forms.

Autism Assessment under Right to Choose: Our waiting time for adult autism assessments under Right to Choose has reduced to under 3 months.

ADHD assessment under Right to Choose: Our waiting time for adult ADHD assessment is now under 12 months.

If you are a Kent and Medway Adult Autism and ADHD Service patient – please read this statement

After your initial assessment, your doctor may refer you to our titration service to obtain a prescription for medication and titration. An update on titration waiting times can be found here

Please note that due to global drug shortages patients might experience additional delays in prescribing medication for ADHD. Please download the latest Update Regarding National ADHD Medication Shortage for further information. This information is updated regularly.

After your assessment, your doctor will write to your GP. However, please note that this may take 4-6 weeks.

A copy of your clinic letter will be uploaded to your MedQare portal, and you will be notified by email and/or SMS, or via the Companion app, to log in and read/download your letter as required.

Please leave a note on the portal with your requested amendments and assign the note to ‘Your Doctor’. This is the fastest method for getting any changes made.

Please leave a note on the portal with your request. Assign the note to ‘ Your Doctor’ – or ‘Your Prescriber’ if you are in titration. Please do not assign the note to ‘Customer Support’ as this may result in a delay due to the volume of notes that are sent to this team.

Please allow a minimum of 10 days for this letter to be generated for you.

If you are registered with a GP surgery in England and you are referred by a GP to a consultant or specialist in mental health, you have the legal right to choose a qualified provider. Psychiatry UK is qualified to provide assessment for ADHD and ASD via Right to Choose. If you wish to be referred to us, please speak to your GP.
