Make an ADHD or ASD referral
Please note: We continue to experience unprecedented demand for referrals for both our Adult ADHD and Autism services, which has inevitably created waiting lists for assessment and treatment.

What information should a referral contain?
Before making a referral to Psychiatry UK, please check with your patient that an online service is suitable for their needs.
Please check full guidance attached.
A referral MUST contain the following 2 items, or it may be rejected:
- A short covering letter stating that you (the GP or Advanced Nurse Practitioner) wish to refer this patient to Psychiatry UK for an ADHD or ASD assessment under the NHS Right to Choose legislation. Please give a brief explanation for the referral. Your letter should be addressed to Psychiatry UK and must have your name at the bottom. Please also include the patient’s telephone number and email address as these are our primary methods of contact.
- A brief medical summary of the patient.
Where to send the referral
The referral (including attachments) should be sent to: p-uk.RTC-referrals@nhs.net. We are no longer accepting postal referrals.
Please note that the above mailbox is FOR GP REFERRALS ONLY.
This mailbox is solely for clinical use. Patient queries will not receive a response.
Existing patients, please reach out via your MedQare portal account. For further assistance, contact our Customer Support team via our Virtual Assistant service. This is available through our website, portal and Companion app.
What happens next?
When your patient has been assessed, the consultant will write to you with a diagnosis and a recommended treatment plan if applicable.
If the patient has chosen medication treatment (ADHD only), we will write to you after their end-of-titration review, with details of their treatment to date, clinical response and mental state examination.
Shared Care
We will request your agreement to take over the prescribing of their medication for the following 12 months, with an expectation that their blood pressure, pulse and weight will be reviewed after 6 months.
Unless we hear otherwise, your patient will be offered an annual review with their consultant at the end of each 12-month period. However, if at any time you consider that your patient needs specialist advice regarding their medication or treatment, or an earlier review, please feel free to contact us via email or letter.
Concerns/notification of a patient death
Please notify us of any deaths or serious harm incidents relating to a patient who is on our waiting lists or under a Shared Care Agreement.
