Qualifications: Diploma in Nursing Studies (Teesside University), Non-Medical Prescribing (University of Northampton) (V300).
I am a qualified registered nurse in learning disabilities and independent non-medical prescriber.
I started my healthcare career in 2004 as a nursing assistant and was then seconded by my trust to complete my nursing diploma which I gained from the University of Teesside in 2010.
Over the last 10 years I have worked with both adults and children with a Learning Disability and other comorbid conditions both in inpatient settings and in the community.
I qualified as an independent non-medical prescriber in July 2016 at the University of Northampton. This led me to my current role of Neurodevelopmental Lead Nurse within a CAMHS Learning Disability team within the NHS. In this role I assess, diagnose, and treat ADHD and sleep issues and support parents and deliver psychodynamic education.
I have also recently completed my ADOS training which allows me to be part of the process for assessing Autism.
