Dr Abid Choudry MBChB MRCPsych PGCert Med Ed is an experienced Consultant Psychiatristwho trained in Medicine at the University Of Birmingham. He has experience in the NHS and private sector as Consultant Psychiatrist and in senior leadership role as Medical director. Within the NHS he previously gained experience in a range of settings including community and inpatient adult psychiatry, early Intervention in psychosis and rehabilitation settings.
Dr Choudry has a full licence to practice and is committed to continuing professional development and is appraised every year by the Royal College of Psychiatrists Certificate of good standing and the GMC General Medical Council. He holds full membership with the Royal College of Psychiatrists and is registered on the GMC specialist register license to practice in general adult psychiatry.
Dr Choudry has a keen interest in research and has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals on a range of topics including management of CCD, use of Clozapine in treatment resistant schizophrenia and training and recruitment in Psychiatry. Dr Choudry has been teaching as part of the undergraduate team for medical students. He has experience of working in a broad range of settings with socially and culturally diverse patient groups, and with a wide range of comorbidity. He has expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of common and severe mental disorders.
Dr Choudry believes in taking a holistic approach to achieving the best outcomes for the patient. He is currently gaining qualification in functional medicine to help patients achieve full recovery and improve the patients quality of life. He is also trained in ADI-R- for assessment of Autism. Individual treatment plans are formulated in collaboration with the patient, allowing plenty of time for explanation and questions. Treatments may consist of medication, referral for psychological therapy and or lifestyle advice.
