Dr Orchard attended the University of Birmingham and qualified as a doctor in 2003. She went on to train as a psychiatrist in the West Midlands and completed her higher specialist training in Forensic Psychiatry. Dr Orchard also has a MSc in Criminology and Criminal Psychology. She has worked as a consultant psychiatrist in the NHS and the independent health sectors in a variety of specialities including forensic, personality disorders, prescribing medical cannabis and neuropsychiatry.
Dr Orchard has also worked as a medical director and has a level 5 diploma in leadership and management. She has had responsibilities for the training and development of speciality doctors and completing appraisals for other doctors. She had various additional roles throughout her career including DBT therapist, working on the AC/section 12 approvals panel and working as a GMC associate. Dr Orchard’s main goals are patient collaboration and self-empowerment to achieve optimal outcomes.
