GMC Number: 4627223
Qualifications: MBCHB (Bristol), MRCPCH (U.K.); RCPCH CCT (Paediatrics with Dual Higher Specialist Training in Community Paediatrics and Child Mental Health); Postgrad.D. in Medical Education (U.C.L)
I am a graduate of the University of Bristol Medical School (1999). I originally trained as a Paediatrician, where I developed a particular interest in autism and ADHD in children and adolescents and went on to do extensive training in neurodiversity and comorbidities such as anxiety, depression and obsessive traits. I was subsequently accredited dual subspecialist degrees in Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Community Paediatrics (RCPCH).
I became actively involved in training other doctors as the Lead Consultant in medical education in subspecialty training programmes, as I had a postgraduate diploma degree in Medical Education from UCL (University College London).
As an NHS Consultant in Greenwich, I worked as the Designated Doctor for Looked After Children and Young Adults, supervising the work of a team of specialist doctors and nurses providing holistic care for 650 Looked After Children and Young Adults in Southeast London. This work focussed on delivering support to abused/ at risk children and adolescents/ young adults, supporting them with all their physical and emotional needs.
I undertook a lead role in multidisciplinary assessments for autism and ADHD and acted as a supervisor for other doctors undertaking these assessments, as well as the work of doctors undertaking Child Protection Medicals and Adoption Medicals.
Prior to that, I taught at U.K. Regional Child Protection and Surveillance Programmes and was the Medical Representative in the multi-agency Domestic Violence Forum in Wolverhampton for a year. Most lately, I have worked in shelter homes for abused children and mothers, supporting their physical and mental needs, as well as identifying neurodiversity related issues and training staff accordingly.
My particular area of passion is working with young adults ( 17-25 years of age) and providing thorough, holistic and compassionate care tailored to the specific needs of the young person whilst helping them with their diagnostic assessments, in particular, autism and ADHD, and to support and motivate them to shape their life ahead in the ways that are best for them.
I am known for my comprehensive, compassionate, non-judgemental and sensitive approach as well as clear, specific explanations tailored precisely to the patient’s needs. Making a thorough assessment is of utmost importance, but equally important to me, is making sure that the patient feels fully listened to and comfortable throughout the assessment and comes out of the assessment feeling confident and positive about the next phase of their life. I believe I am LGBTQ+ affirming and have extensive experience conducting autism spectrum disorder (ASD) assessments with a neurodiversity-informed and inclusive approach.
Please note, for booking purposes, that, for the reasons above, I limit the age cut off of my patients up to (and including) 25 years of age.
