Dr Elizabeth Zachariah is a Senior Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist within the National Health Service, with 12 years’ experience at consultant level.
She was the Clinical Director for Forensics and Prisons Directorate, Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust from November 2015 to August 2022.
She is registered with the General Medical Council and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrist. Dr Zachariah is approved under the Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act and is an elected member of the Executive Forensic Faculty Committee, Royal College of Psychiatrist.
Dr Zachariah has extensive experience of working across a wide range of clinical settings, including in-patient services, community services, prisons and liaison and diversion services. Her area of expertise is forensic psychiatry.
Dr Zachariah has expertise in the assessment and management of mental health disorders, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, personality disorder and neurodevelopmental conditions.
Dr Zachariah’s current and previous roles within the health service have placed her in a unique and strategic position to witness, be part of and lead on the rapid transformations that secure services are currently undergoing nationally. This has also made her acutely aware of the impact such a rapidly evolving system can have on the lives of the patients and clients who seek mental health service within the National Health Service and privately.
