I am a Consultant Psychiatrist with over 20 years experience.
I trained in Medicine at the University of Sheffield graduating in 2000, then completed Higher Specialist Training in Psychiatry in London and the West Midlands.
I received my Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in General Psychiatry and Substance Use Psychiatry in 2011. I went on to work as a Consultant in Addictions at the Leeds Addiction unit until 2013, developing the Leeds Club Drug Clinic for difficulties with club drugs (e.g. ketamine, mephedrone and GHB) which featured in a BBC3 documentary. I then worked as a Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry (Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar, Schizophrenia) until 2015.
I then moved into Eating Disorders, providing clinical leadership for an All Age Eating Disorder Service in the West Midlands before joining Priory Hospital Altrincham in 2018 as Consultant Psychiatrist on the Inpatient Adolescent Eating Disorders Unit.
I have specialist knowledge, experience and interest in the following areas:

• Nutritional and Lifestyle Psychiatry
• Sports Psychiatry
I am also Honorary Clinical Lecturer at University College London where I am Module Lead for the Eating Disorders Clinical Sciences module and course tutor on the MSc Eating Disorders and Clinical Nutrition.
My current research interests include the microbiome and mental health and the link between impulsivity and eating disorders.
I was an elected member of the Executive Committee of the Faculty of Eating Disorders at the Royal College of Psychiatrists from 2017-2021.
I am a trustee of the British Eating Disorders Society and a member of British Society of Lifestyle Medicine and the British Society of Sports and Exercise Medicine.
In my private practice I work with patients to jointly create a care plan for body and mind which looks at lifestyle factors in addition to medication and other treatment approaches.
