I am a General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist with more than 20 years’ experience in psychiatry. I qualified as a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Milan, Italy in 2000 and I completed the Specialist Training in Adult Psychiatry (equivalent to CCST) in 2004 at the University of Pavia in Italy.
I have been working in inner city London as a substantive NHS Consultant within a very diverse and demanding community mental health team and acute wards since 2005. This has equipped me with vast experience and fine-tuning of the skills required to assess, manage and treat a variety of mental disorders, including (but not limited to):
- Anxiety
- Depression (unipolar and bipolar)
- OCD
- ADHD
- Personality disorders
- Complex trauma
- Schizophrenia and other psychoses
Over the last five years I have successfully led an adult acute female ward at the Maudsley Hospital, also holding a senior leadership position (Associate Medical Director) within the Southwark borough.
I am an Approved Clinician under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act, having specialist expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders.
I am passionate about educating and supporting patients, carers and colleagues and having the privilege to facilitate their growth. I have been a Clinical and Educational Supervisor for senior and junior trainees, as well as medical students recognised by the GMC for the past two decades.
