Michael is a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist & Liaison Psychiatrist, with over 19 years’ experience of clinical practice in the NHS. He is Section 12 and AC approved.
He is experienced in assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a range of mental health disorders, including:
- Depression
- Obsessive Compulsion Disorder (OCD)
- Anxiety disorders
- Bipolar disorder
- Psychotic disorders
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Adjustment disorders
He also offers specialist diagnostic formulations and treatment for Adult ADHD and complex Medically Unexplained Symptoms (MUS).
Michael’s delivery of care is based on a person-centred approach, fostering an understanding of patients as experts in their own life as a collaborative approach.
He currently works as a Liaison Consultant providing clinical leadership for an ageless service in a General Hospital for persons in crisis and/or routine care.
In addition to his clinical work, Michael is a keen academic researcher, utilising expertise to develop our knowledge of psychiatry and practice. He is an educator involved in postgraduate training and, as a post-graduate tutor, is tasked with facilitating quality psychiatry training in his locality.
