Dr Val Yeung is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, who has been a NHS doctor since 1997. She has a broad clinical background from initially qualifying in General Practice, undergoing additional training in Paediatrics, before specialising in Psychiatry, and then becoming a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. She has expertise in the assessment and treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders including ADHD, and co-occuring mental health difficulties.
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr Yeung has worked in a variety of clinics and lead roles in different organisations, in the UK as well as in New Zealand. These have included as a Specialist Advisor for the Care Quality Commission, Clinical Director for Countywide Child and Adolescent Mental Health services, and Associate Medical Director for Community Mental Health services across the age span in an award winning NHS Trust, rated outstanding by the CQC. Her NHS practice is in a specialist ADHD clinic in a children and young people’s service in the North of England.
Dr Yeung is passionate about providing high quality, evidence based practice which respectfully and holistically considers behavioural, psychological, educational and family interventions, as well as physical healthcare, alongside psychiatric medication as appropriate. She tailors this care to each child, young person or adult she jointly works with to help them achieve their potential, and enable better health, performance and functioning.
