My background
I am a committed Consultant Psychiatrist with over 10 years’ experience in the field. I have worked in NHS specialist services, community and inpatient teams and developed expertise in wide ranging mental health difficulties.
I completed my medical training at Oxford University and gained an additional first class BA in Neuroscience and an award for psychiatry at Oxford. I went on to complete my psychiatry training in London in the renowned Maudsley Hospital.
I am also proud to say I am passionate about reducing stigma and discrimination against people with mental illness and have led international research to change stigmatising attitudes and discriminatory behaviours, to help people access the support they need. I have published research papers and book chapters on evidence based treatments.
How I can help
My patients describe me as kind and caring and I provide a holistic, thorough approach. This means I work with each person to create a tailored plan suited to their needs and choices. This can include medication, lifestyle changes, understanding experiences and symptoms better, gaining a diagnosis, talking therapies or a combination of these.
