GMC Number: 7014788

I chose medicine, and then psychiatry, for the people. The satisfaction of being able to help people understand what is happening to them, and to guide them through challenging times, is reward in itself.

My clinical experience includes, but is not limited to:

  • Acute psychiatric care in all ages (hospital, home treatment, and general hospital liaison, both in working hours and out-of-hours).
  • Routine assessment and diagnosis of mental disorders in working-age adults (ADHD, psychosis, mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, anxiety spectrum disorders, autism, and personality disorders).
  • Longer-term management of multiple psychiatric conditions in working-age adults through my roles in psychiatric rehabilitation.
  • A thorough understanding of the complexities of physical health disorders and their interactions with mental disorder, including Medically Unexplained Symptoms.
  • I volunteered for the CoViD19 Nightingale Hospital out-of-hours service in Yorkshire.
  • I have worked in both the NHS and the independent sector.
  • Psychological therapies: cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), and Systems Therapy.

My other experience:

  • I conducted the following research: https://bit.ly/3AcMtvD
  • I have trained and examined medical students, nurse prescribers, and psychiatric trainees.
  • I have been directly responsible for the clinical and line management of other consultants in my role as Associate Medical Director. This role also included working with the leadership team to ensure governance of the trust.

I have full registration with the General Medical Council, and I undergo appraisal, with regular continuing professional development activities. I am a full member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

I’m looking forward to having a conversation with you.
