Dr Hundal is a highly skilled clinician with expertise in assessment, treatment and management of most of the mental health disorders, ranging from mood disorders (depression, bipolar affective disorders), anxiety disorders (including OCD, PTSD and complex PTSD), psychotic disorders, personality disorder and neurodevelopmental conditions, such as ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder. She has expertise in working with people with mental disorders complicated by substance misuse. She aims to provide a holistic care encompassing the interactions between biological, psychological and social aspects.

In her leadership roles, she is focussed on the delivery of quality service. She has contributed to strategy and service development, and has extensive experience of setting up clinical services, including development of ADHD services within prison and physical well-being clinics in the community; and led on liaison and diversion service with multiagency working.

Dr Hundal believes strongly in promoting health and well-being. A key area of her interest is addressing health inequalities that individuals with mental disorders often face. She has led on a Quality Improvement project that involved setting up a physical well-being clinic for her community caseload to promote education on health, positive lifestyle choices and the importance of engaging and complying in management of long-term medical conditions. The clinic also provides annual physical health reviews with close liaison with primary care and medication management. Patient feedback surveys showed that having access to the clinic with a known team improved clients’ engagement, eliminated the initial barriers to accessing healthcare and improved health inequalities. This QI project was presented at the national conference (RCPsych Forensic Faculty Conference in 2022).

Dr Hundal is also an experienced expert witness and has experience of providing psychiatric reports in various legal proceedings and given oral evidence in both crown and magistrates court.
