I trained in Medicine at Liverpool University, qualifying in 1998 with a MBChB. Initially training to be a GP, I worked in a range of specialties before realising I loved working as a psychiatrist and particularly enjoyed working with Children, Adolescents and their families.

I have almost 20 yrs’ experience working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health in Australia, North West England, West Midlands and, most recently, in Cornwall. I gained my CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 2015. I have worked since then as a Community Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in the NHS.

I work with all aspects of children’s mental health, including specific conditions such as ADHD, Autism spectrum conditions, Anxiety, Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Tics and Tourettes Syndrome, Self Harm, Voice hearing,

I enjoy working holistically to understand each young person in the context of their personality, biology, relationships and circumstances. I try to understand and build on each of these to find the right approach for each person individually. I hope to help a young person feel empowered by understanding their unique situation, and what might suit them to start any process of change. This may include considering their network of support, educational support, lifestyle changes, the most suitable talking therapy options for them, and sometimes medication.
