Dr Aina qualified in Medicine with an MBBS in 2000. After training in psychiatry, he obtained Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2009. His postgraduate training was at the Maudsley Hospital and Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College London. He obtained his Specialist registration with GMC-UK in General Adult Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry in 2012 and has worked as Consultant Psychiatrist in the NHS since then.
He has special interest in Neurodevelopmental Disorders. He pioneered the West Norfolk ADHD service and has run ADHD clinics within the NHS since 2014. He currently works in the West Kent Neurodevelopmental Disorders Service. This involves assessing and managing ADHD, ASC, and Tic disorders. He has vast experience in a wide range of mental health conditions including mood, personality, psychotic and anxiety-related disorders, and substance misuse.
His approach of care is one of understanding, and empathy. Aware that mental illnesses affect how a person feels and behaves, hence, he uses his skills to help people understand how their condition can be caused by factors including biological, environmental, psychological, or genetic. He uses an integrated treatment approach, that may consist of medication, psychological therapy, daily structure, and exercise to help people in their recovery.
