Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist – Specialist in ADHD & Autism Spectrum Conditions
GMC Number: 7002980
With over 15 years of psychiatric experience across both NHS and the private sector, I have developed a specialist interest in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of neurodevelopmental conditions including adult ADHD and Autistic Spectrum Disorders. My experience spans across complex diagnostic presentations, including autism in females and individuals with co-occurring conditions. I am particularly committed to improving recognition and understanding of the female and masked presentations of autism—areas historically underdiagnosed or misinterpreted. I adopt a neurodiversity-affirmative approach, grounded in respect for the diversity of human cognitive functioning and the belief that tailored support, is the key to enabling individuals to thrive. My work is informed not only by best clinical practice but by a sustained commitment to inclusivity, and compassionate care. This ethos has been reflected in the recognition by patients, and I hold a Certificate of Excellence in patient feedback from “iWantGreatCare”.
I hold a leadership role within the Autism Service contributing to and ensuring delivery of high-quality clinical care and service development. I have formal training in internationally recognised gold-standard diagnostic tools for autism and have completed accredited training in both diagnosis and treatment of adult ADHD too. I also provide clinical supervision and training to other doctors undertaking ADHD assessments. As a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist, in a specialised secure service in the NHS, I continue to work with diagnosed and undiagnosed neurodiversity in various settings including secure hospitals.
As part of my commitment to broadening therapeutic options for patients, my additional clinical interests include emerging and evidence-informed treatments that may not yet be part of conventional psychiatric practice. This includes regulated prescribing of medicinal cannabis for appropriate clinical indications, where clinically justified, with a focus on improving quality of life and symptom management in complex cases. This approach remains rooted in rigorous assessment, review of evidence, ongoing CPD and peer collaboration to ensure best practice in this evolving field to ensure responsible use of novel interventions.
