Dr Ram Kamat is a Consultant Psychiatrist working in Sussex for the NHS and in the private sector. He has over 20 years’ experience of working in the field of Psychiatry and has been a Consultant Psychiatrist in the NHS since the year 2015.

He currently works in a community mental health service in Sussex assessing and treating psychiatric conditions such as depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, ADHD, personality disorders, anxiety disorder, OCD and complex trauma. He has a keen interest in ADHD and PTSD.

He has a Clinical Lead role in developing community mental health services in an NHS trust. He enjoys educating medical students, trainee doctors, service users, carers and colleagues.

Dr Kamat completed his psychiatric training in South West London, Surrey and Sussex. He has been a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists since 2010. He has experience of working in various mental health services including community, inpatient, perinatal psychiatry, substance misuse, and Liaison Psychiatry.

He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Leadership from the University of Brighton and a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education. He is an Approved Clinician recognised under section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act. He is also an Enhanced Appraiser for doctors working in the NHS.
