Dr. Satnam Goyal MBBS MD(Psychiatry) MRCPsych is working as a Consultant Psychiatrist in the NHS. He specialises in General Adult Psychiatry and has an endorsement in Substance Misuse Psychiatry. He has been working in mental health services since 2011. After completing his MD in Psychiatry in India, he secured a fellowship post in the NHS. He then went on to complete his higher training in Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom. During his training, he also developed additional skills in using psychotherapeutic models like Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural therapy and Cognitive Analytic Therapy when assessing patients and advising on treatment.

He currently works in a Community Mental Health team with the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust. He has a keen interest in supporting the development of Primary Care Mental Health Services to allow timely assessment and early support for common mental health conditions. He has extensive experience and a wide range of skills in the assessment and management of depression, anxiety, OCD, stress-related disorders, bipolar disorder, addictions and psychosis.

Dr. Goyal has keen interests in Medical Education and Research. He is currently a Tutor for his NHS Trust and leads the delivery of psychiatry training for Foundation Year doctors working in the organisation. He has led a multi-site research project in India in the past to improve understanding of brain changes in schizophrenia and has contributed to multiple publications in Peer reviewed journals.
