Hi, I’m Dr Shazia Zahid. I am a consultant Psychiatrist and have been working in the field of neurodevelopmental disorders – specializing mainly in Autism, ADHD, and Intellectual disability since 2017.
I completed my Psychiatry training at Maudsley hospital, a center of excellence in the field of mental health. During my time here, I ran national clinics diagnosing and managing autism and ADHD in patients with complex mental health needs.
I have over 15 years of NHS experience in diagnosing and treating affective disorders including Depression, Anxiety and Bipolar disorders as well as Personality disorders and Psychotic disorders. I am an approved section 12 practitioner and regularly conduct mental health act assessments. I have been a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych) since 2010.
I have also completed “Essential Autism License” training which has equipped me to teach and train others to work with individuals with autism, as well as ADOS training which has further developed my diagnostic skills. In the field of ADHD, I have recently completed UKAAN ADHD course among many others.
As well as my clinical work, I train medical students, junior doctors, and paramedical staff daily, and have been a relational security lead for NELFT for over 2 years. Additionally, I am a co-author of a chapter on ADHD in the Oxford Textbook of the Psychiatry of Intellectual Disability.
I am a passionate, hardworking peoples person who will not hesitate to go an extra mile to provide robust care to my patients. I can communicate in English, Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi.
