Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist
I qualified as a medical doctor in 2000 from Chennai, India. I have trained as a General Paediatrician in India and UK before specialising in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. I completed my basic psychiatry training at South London & Maudsley Training Scheme and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry higher specialist training at St Mary’s Training Scheme, North West London.
I am highly experienced in supporting children, adolescents and their parents/ families in managing various mental health conditions. I have specialist skills and expertise in the diagnosis & management of young people with emotional disorders, behavioural disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders like Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
I use a gentle and non-judgemental approach in sensitively addressing the young person’s difficulties. I work collaboratively with children and parents in guiding them through their difficulties and help young people achieve their full potential. I am experienced in using appropriate medicines and different therapeutic approaches which enables me to formulate individualised treatment plans for young people under my care.
I am experienced in using telemedicine in child & adolescent psychiatry practice. In addition to working in the UK, I travel to India regularly to provide child & adolescent psychiatry service in the City of Chennai and neighbouring regions. Working across different health care systems, I have developed wide knowledge and expertise in the care of young people.
