Dr Nizar Hojaili is a General Adult Psychiatrist. In addition he has a special interest in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. His undergraduate education journey took him to Canada and the Netherland Antilles.
He completed all his postgraduate training in the West Midlands Deanery, United Kingdom at the University of Warwick affiliated Teaching Hospitals in Coventry and Warwickshire during which he completed several rotations in various sub-specialities like Substance Misuse, Eating Disorder, Old Age Psychiatry, Learning Disability Psychiatry, Rehabilitation Psychiatry and Crisis Team. It allowed him to developed comprehensive assessment and management skills in a large range of disorders.
During his Post-graduate training, he gained in 2008 a Post Graduate Award (PGA) in Professional skills in Healthcare from the University of Warwick. In 2012 he was elected to become a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych). In 2014 he obtained a Post-Graduate Certificate (PGCert) in Child and Adolescent Mental Health from the University of Leicester. Dr Hojaili obtained in 2016 his Certificate of Completion of training (C.C.T.) in General Psychiatry.
Immediately after completing his training in Adult Psychiatry, Dr Hojaili focused on gaining expertise in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by working for nearly two years exclusively in a community Child and Adolescent Mental health (CAHMS) service in Coventry initially as a Specialty Doctor then as a Consultant Psychiatrist. He co-established an ADHD clinic in order to tackle the nearly 3 years long waiting list for children needing to be assessed.
From the February 2017 Dr Hojaili worked initially as a Consultant Psychiatrist in Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, before relocating to Lebanon in the summer 2018 to work in the private sector He joined two prestigious hospitals, the Bellevue Medical Centre in Mount Lebanon and Clemenceau Medical Centre in Beirut. In April 2021 He relocated to Dubai as a full-time consultant to establish a psychiatry department and the Clemenceau Medical Center Hospital where he has been working since.
Throughout the years, Doctor Hojaili actively engaged in formally teaching, assessing and examining Medical Students, Nursing Staff and Junior Doctors/Residents in Psychiatry. He also gives regular lectures to both the general public and medical staff to increase awareness of Mental health disorder.
Dr Hojaili expertise encompasses a wide range of Psychiatric disorders, from Neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., ADHD and Autistic Spectrum Disorder) to Anxiety disorder, Obsessive compulsive disorder, Trauma related difficulties, Eating Disorders, Mood disorder (depression and Bipolar Affective Disorder), Psychotic Disorders and Personality Disorders.
