Dr Santosh K Chaturvedi, MD, FRCPsych [UK] is a Consultant Psychiatrist and was the Former Dean of Behavioural Sciences, and Senior Professor of Psychiatry at the National Institute of Mental Health & Neurosciences, Bangalore, India. He has been the Head of Departments of Psychiatry, Mental Health Education, and Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services.
He has been a Consultant Psychiatrist at the Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, UK in 2021-2022 and Consultant Psychiatrist in North Staffordshire NHS Trust, Stoke on Trent, in 2003-2004.
He is a TEDx talker; his talk was on Unmentor, the negative mentor, delivered in February 2020.
He has been a member of the International Association for the Study of Pain, since 1986. He was a Member, WHO’s Working Group on the Classification of Somatic Symptom and Dissociative Disorders 2010-2012 and currently is a Member of the WHO Guideline Development Group (GDG) for the WHO Guidelines on chronic primary low back pain in adults, since 2021 to date.
He is one of the Editors-in-Chief of the Journal of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Mental Health, published by Springers Nature. He is Editor of the book on Rural Mental Health, published by Springers Publications & a co-editor of book on Medically Unexplained Symptoms & Chronic Pain published by Paras Medical Publishers. He is also one of the editors of the book Somatization across Cultures to be published by Oxford University Press in 2023.
His areas of interest and research include Chronic Pain & Somatization; Workplace based mental health/wellbeing, Postgraduate teaching methods and mentoring; Consultation Liaison Psychiatry and spirituality, Psycho Oncology & Palliative Care.
He has more than 640 publications in different International and National journals, with about 350 citations / listings in PUBMED / MEDLINE; He has edited and / or published Twenty-five Books, Manuals or Journals.
