Dr Rejaul Islam is a Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in Autism, ADHD, Mental Health conditions and Learning Disabilities.
Dr Islam has many years of experience of supporting people with mental health and developmental conditions.
He completed his higher specialist training at the prestigious South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, where he gained valuable experience at the National Autism Diagnostic Centre and various community and in-patient mental health learning disabilities units.
Dr Islam has held senior leadership and clinical roles within the Private sector (as Medical Director and Clinical Director) and within the NHS (as Clinical Lead for neurodevelopmental pathways).
He has a keen special interest in Autism Spectrum Disorder and has held a leading role in an international clinical trial testing a new drug for Autism (The V1aduct trial) with Roche pharmaceuticals and Kings College London. He has also spent time at the Maudsley Behaviour Genetics Clinic, a national service for Autism and ADHD diagnostic assessments for adults.
Dr Islam takes a collaborative approach to assessing and supporting patients, whereby he sees the importance of partnership and working together with the patient to identify the difficulties and underlying issues, in order to provide helpful and supportive treatment plans.
