Qualifications: Registered Nurse – Mental Health Nurse Independent Prescriber.
I qualified as a mental health nurse in 2001, subsequently qualified as a Non-Medical Prescriber in 2014. Since qualifying I have worked in the NHS Acute Mental Health Setting and in the Community as a community psychiatric nurse and non-medical prescriber. I have had the experience of working within a community mental health team, which is integrated with the local authority colleagues.
I am currently employed as an ADHD Advanced Nurse Practitioner within a busy NHS Adult Neurodevelopmental Service initiating and titrating ADHD medication. I have 6 years’ experience working in this role. I also am working as an Independent Prescriber in the Psychiatric UK Titration Team.
Through my experience I understand how the effects of social determinants and social trauma can impact on an individual’s health, and thus my work towards people with lived experience is carried out holistically.
