Qualifications: Dip in Mental Health Nursing, NMP.
I am an ADHD clinical nurse specialist working for both the NHS and Psychiatry UK. I qualified in 1999 from Chester University as a mental health nurse. Since then, I have worked across a wide range of mental health roles, from inpatient settings on a psychiatric unit, as a community psychiatric nurse and working to support those in need in a crisis home treatment team.
In 2018 to extend my knowledge I qualified to become a non-medical prescriber. I am very passionate about supporting people with ADHD bringing both personal and professional experience in the effects it can have on people holistically. I started my current role as an ADHD nurse specialist in August 2021.
With my experience, I have a good understanding of the impairment’s ADHD can cause to a person’s quality of life and I get great job satisfaction initiating, titrating and monitoring treatment to relieve the symptoms and seeing the positive outcomes this can have on service users and the people in their lives who also benefit from positive outcomes.
